Poem – The Water

Poem – The Water

Numb, too much time has passed.

Like driftwood afloat on the ocean’s surface,

Directionless.

I am carried through life, lost.

No mariner meets me halfway,

I’m half alive, half dead.

To have a friend right now would be respite.

From the thoughts inside my head.

It’s just me and the eternal horizon.

I feel like giving up.

But just as the sun sets in one breath,

In another it has just woken up.

Time waits for no man.

And the seas continue to swell.

Will I sink or swim in the whirlpool of my mind.

I guess only time will tell.

*A poem about loneliness and the feeling of numbness that can follow. The main take home message is shedding a light on resilience. Highlighting the importance of not giving up when you feel down, to have hope and to keep moving forward even when it feels so difficult to do so.
